LPS-Induced TNF-α and IL-1 Signaling in Periodontitis: Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Opportunities.
This narrative review examined how bacterial lipopolysaccharide triggers inflammation in periodontitis by activating TNF-α and IL-1 signaling, leading to bone loss, and found that blocking these cytokines reduced inflammation and bone loss in preclinical models, though timing of intervention matters and human clinical evidence remains limited.
