A national survey found that roughly half of respondents considered fluoridated water safe and raw milk less safe than pasteurised milk, while about one-third supported banning water fluoridation and legalising raw milk sales. Lower trust in scientists and Republican identification were associated with holding positions that diverged from scientific consensus on these issues.
