Researchers compared synthetic enamel remineralization and surface changes using fluoride toothpaste alone versus fluoride toothpaste mixed with micro- or nano-sized hydroxyapatite particles. All toothpaste treatments recovered surface hardness equally, but only the hydroxyapatite-fortified formulations preserved surface smoothness during 15-day pH cycling.
