Determinants of public preference for orthodontic appliances and treatment providers: a scoping review.
A scoping review of 56 studies found that specialist orthodontists remain the most preferred providers due to perceived expertise, while direct-to-consumer treatment appeals mainly to those prioritising cost and convenience. Adults favoured aesthetic appliances, but children preferred metal braces, with practical factors like effectiveness often outweighing appearance concerns.
