International journal of dentistry · Acosta JM, Phyo WM, Owasitth R, Susanti I, Gholamrezaei M, Zhou Y, Marintan S, Pisarnturakit PP, Changsiripun C, Urwannachotima N · 2026-10-16

This scoping review examined 52 studies across nine Southeast Asian countries to identify how oral health services are delivered, accessed, and what barriers exist. The review found that accessibility, service comprehensiveness, and coverage are critical factors, but that most studies reported significant obstacles including financial constraints, poor oral health literacy, and geographic barriers—particularly affecting low-income populations.
