Neutrophil S100a9 Deficiency Protects against Periodontal Bone Loss

Researchers found that removing the S100a9 gene in mice reduced bone loss in induced periodontitis by decreasing neutrophil trap formation, which in turn suppressed bone-resorbing cell development. A drug targeting S100A9 similarly reduced bone loss in the model.
