Prevalence and patterns of congenital tooth agenesis in children: a mixed-method study on parental awareness.
Researchers reviewed X-rays of 3,550 children to identify permanent tooth agenesis, finding it in 4.4% of cases, with mandibular second premolars most commonly affected. Although 63% of parents recalled being told about their child's diagnosis, most felt the explanation was inadequate, and after receiving clearer information, over 80% sought further clinical follow-up.
