Epithelial Rests of Malassez Form a Wnt-Dependent Mechanoresponsive Network

Researchers used modelling and mouse studies to show that epithelial rests of Malassez sense mechanical forces from chewing through mechanosensory proteins and coordinate periodontal responses via Wnt signalling, with loss of this signalling preventing their load-induced enlargement and tissue adaptation.
