Mapping Antibiotic Resistance Determinants in Oral Streptococci
Researchers analysed thousands of oral streptococcal genomes and identified 55 unique antibiotic resistance genes across 11 drug classes, with evidence that tetracycline and macrolide resistance genes frequently move between species via mobile genetic elements, including transfer to penicillin-resistant pneumococci.
