A machine learning approach to predict treatment response in myofascial pain patients receiving masseter trigger point injections.
Researchers developed machine learning models using data from 1,181 patients to predict which individuals with jaw muscle pain would benefit from trigger point injections, achieving moderate-to-good predictive accuracy on external validation. Baseline mouth opening, quality of life scores, age, pain levels, and injection type were identified as the strongest predictors of treatment success.
