Procalcitonin as a predictor of length of stay in patients with odontogenic infections.
Researchers found that procalcitonin levels at hospital admission predicted how long patients with severe tooth-related infections needed to stay hospitalised, with higher procalcitonin associated with longer stays; combining procalcitonin and C-reactive protein measurements identified patient subgroups with different expected lengths of stay.
