A bibliometric analysis of 2,315 dental hygiene research publications from 1980 to 2024 identified significant growth in research output since the 2000s, five primary research clusters (education, prevention, occupational health, public health, and elderly oral health), and emerging trends toward public health interventions, technology-enabled care, and interdisciplinary approaches.
