Researchers compared two surgical methods for exposing impacted palatal canines: closed exposure (with immediate orthodontic traction) and open exposure (allowing spontaneous eruption). Closed exposure reduced early postoperative pain but took longer to perform and complete tooth eruption, with both methods showing similar complication rates.
