Nonlinear Association between Density of Dental Clinics and Dental Visits among Older Japanese.

JDR clinical and translational research · Honda K, Kiuchi S, Takeuchi K, Kusama T, Osaka K, Aida J · 2026-08-20

Researchers examined whether the number of dental clinics in an area affects how often older Japanese adults visit dentists. Areas with fewer than 0.600 clinics per square kilometre had significantly lower dental visit rates, but increasing clinic density beyond 0.600 did not further boost visits, suggesting diminishing returns at higher densities.
