Dental service utilization among hospitalized patients with psychiatric and/or substance use disorders: a Norwegian cross-sectional study.

Frontiers in oral health · Kantola KG, Wynn R, Nermo H, Johnsen JK, Hadler-Olsen E · 2026-08-10

Among Norwegian psychiatric and substance use inpatients, only 29% attended dental care regularly despite poor oral health. Irregular attendance was linked to lack of free dental care entitlement, lower toothbrushing frequency, and lower education, rather than clinical need.
