Dental Management of Self-Injurious Behavior in Lesch-Nyhan Disease: A Patient- and Caregiver-Reported Outcome Study.
Researchers surveyed patients with Lesch-Nyhan disease to assess how intraoral devices and dental extractions affected self-injurious behaviour involving the mouth. Intraoral devices were more commonly used and well-tolerated, offering perceived reassurance, while extractions provided relief but did not always stop the injurious behaviour.
