Development and External Known-Groups Validation of a Severity-Adjusted Caries Index (SACI): An Age-Stratified Weighted Approach.
Researchers developed a new caries index (SACI) that weighs lesion severity, restoration extent, and tooth loss differently by age and tooth surface, then tested it against conventional indices. In an independent validation cohort, SACI better distinguished between people with and without type 1 diabetes than standard caries measures.
