Post-surgical infection in elective cardiac surgeries: what is the role of dental evaluation? A retrospective study.

Researchers reviewed 1,276 elective cardiac surgeries to examine whether pre-operative dental assessment reduced post-surgical infections; 10.6% developed infections, and whilst dental evaluation showed no significant protective effect, patients evaluated had shorter hospital stays.
