Patients with recurrent mouth ulcers had significantly lower blood zinc levels than healthy controls, with over half of ulcer patients showing zinc deficiency compared to one-sixth of controls. The findings suggest low zinc levels may predict ulcer recurrence and supplementation could help prevent it.
