Prevalence of Dental Fluorosis and Dental Caries in Relation to Fluoride Levels in Drinking Water among Residents of Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu, India: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Researchers measured fluoride in 100 drinking water sources across Coimbatore and examined 933 residents for tooth decay and fluorosis. Mean fluoride was 0.48 ppm; 65% had caries while 4% showed fluorosis, suggesting suboptimal fluoride may explain high decay rates.
