Biomechanical evaluation of class II inlays: The role of restorative material, resin liner, and retentive pin-hole.

Clinical oral investigations · Yu W, Lin Y, Zheng ML, Niu G, Zhang CY · 2026-10-26

Researchers compared fracture strength of class II inlays made from two materials (lithium disilicate and zirconia) with different retention designs in extracted teeth. Neither material nor retention method alone significantly affected fracture resistance, but their combination did; zirconia transferred less stress to tooth structure and showed fewer non-repairable fractures.
