Association of tooth wear with dentin hypersensitivity: A systematic review.

Periodontology 2000 · Denucci GC, Adam K, Schlueter N, Turssi CP, Oliveira LB, Nagraj SK, Hara AT · 2026-08-31

Researchers reviewed 21 clinical studies and found dentin hypersensitivity prevalence was substantially higher in patients with tooth wear (42.1%) compared to those without (18.7%), with consistent associations also observed at individual tooth level. Specific acidic diets, parafunctional behaviors, and certain lifestyle factors were linked to hypersensitivity in tooth wear cases.
