Association between periodontal disease severity and the risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw: a systematic review and meta-analysis by the Korean Academy of Periodontology.
A systematic review of eight studies found that patients with periodontal disease had approximately three times higher risk of developing medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw compared to those without periodontal disease, with greater risk associated with more severe periodontal breakdown.
