0.1% octenidine versus 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwashes for plaque-induced gingivitis: A triple-blinded randomized controlled trial.

Bioinformation · Pokale S, Agrawal S, Rao P, Dalave P, Sharma V, Sachdev SS · 2026-06-30

Researchers compared two antimicrobial mouthwashes—octenidine and chlorhexidine—alongside placebo in patients with plaque-induced gingivitis following scaling and root planing. Both active rinses reduced inflammation, plaque and bacteria better than placebo, though chlorhexidine caused more tooth staining.
